Houdini Grow Attribute
Attribute Essentials
Knowing how to grow attributes in Houdini is an essential skill any VFX artist should have under their belt. This comes in handy in a lot of situations.
About
How to grow attributes in Houdini in two different ways:
The non-solver method is easier to set up and works for most cases. In this method, first you create a distance along geometry attribute which measures the edge length between points.
The solver method is more complex but gives you more control over the growth. In this method, you will need to age the points so that the simulation doesn’t slow down as more and more points turn white. You can also add conditions based on the value of a noise to control where the points grow.
Overall, the non-solver method is a good option for most cases as it is easy to set up and efficient. The solver method is more complex but gives you more control over the growth.
